SCROOMS The catching loop

The three official catching stages, with separate evidence for perfect catches.

← All guides

Follow the three stages in order

Begin by equipping the instrument and playing to attract a Scroom. Next comes tuning. After tuning, the catching interaction asks you to drag the creature within a moving zone. These stages are supported by the official description and other reports. They describe the sequence of the activity, without promising a particular creature or a fixed completion time.

Separate tuning from instrument comparisons

The official Tune Speed description concerns the time spent tuning. The instrument table records the published bonuses, but the supplied research gives no formula converting a percentage into elapsed seconds. A negative listed bonus, a missing bonus and a zero bonus are different cases. The table keeps those distinctions instead of filling blanks or calculating an unsupported duration.

Track the moving zone

During the catching stage, leaving the zone reduces progress. PC reports describe dragging with the mouse, while mobile reports describe finger dragging. The controls guide keeps its potentially shared reporting label. That means the input instructions are sourced, but repeated guide wording is not counted as independent confirmation of the control scheme.

Read perfect-catch evidence separately

Extra XP for a perfect catch has corroborating reports. The approximate 50% bonus comes from one guide and remains a weaker claim. Practice Makes Perfect connects perfect catches with Ocarina song performance, but its individual reward is not documented. The quest link is context for the objective, not proof of a universal reward multiplier.

What is still unknown

The catch-loop evidence does not establish a timing formula, a universal success rate or how every stat changes the moving zone. A controlled recording with equipment values and before-and-after results would be needed for those claims. Frequency overlap in the Scroomdex is only a comparison of printed endpoints; it does not supply catch odds.
